Coin show planning has gotten complicated with all the dealer options, auction schedules, and educational programming flying around. As someone who has attended the ANA World’s Fair of Money for many years, I learned everything there is to know about making the most of these events. Today, I will share it all with you.
The Chicago Event
The ANA World’s Fair of Money returns to Chicago this summer, featuring over 1,000 dealer tables and extensive programming for collectors at every level. The scale of this show dwarfs regional events.
Probably should have led with the Smithsonian exhibit, honestly. Special displays will feature coins from the National Numismatic Collection—pieces most collectors only see in photographs. The auction schedule includes several notable consignments with key-date rarities.

What to Know Before Going
That’s what makes the ANA show endearing to us collectors—the combination of buying opportunities and education in one place. Sessions cover topics from beginner collecting to advanced die variety identification. New this year: hands-on grading workshops with industry professionals.
Early registration provides discounts on multi-day passes. Hotels near the convention center fill quickly, so book accommodations soon if you’re planning to attend.
